Did you know that YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine? It also bears the title of the single largest video hosting site online. Bar none.
It’s because of these facts that mastering YouTube is so important. With a presence like that, it’s no wonder people are trying to “master” YouTube. They succeed by providing the best search results to their end-users, not because they make it easy for online marketers to get their videos viewed.
There are tons of backend strategies that you can use. Some work. Some don’t. We’ve tested virtually all of them so we know how painful it can be to spend time implementing a strategy only to find out it does not work at all. You don’t want to be there.
Aside from the back-end strategies we teach, there are some techniques you can use in each of your videos that will help you get more “natural” views from people who will want to share them with friends. In fact, almost every top viewed video on YouTube uses these techniques… even if they didn’t realize they were doing it.
These techniques fuel your videos and make them viral, so we created an acronym, “VIEW FUEL” It may sound a little awkward, but there are 8 techniques, and this title helps us to remember them. They are powerful. They are easy to implement. And we are sure that you will see the number of “views” on your videos increase dramatically when you begin utilizing them.
Let’s get started. V = Video Quality.
Borrow a Flip camera, an iPhone, iPad or any other decent camera; just don’t shoot poor quality videos. Fuzzy videos have no place online, and they aren’t likely to get shared. Shaky videos create the same results. They don’t go anywhere. Be sure to use a tripod or prop your camera on something. Nauseous viewers are not happy viewers.
Pick a place with great lighting. Generally, people want to be able to see what they are watching in a video. If you pick a place with a lot of windows behind your or you are outside, be sure to add in lighting in front of you so your face doesn’t look like a dark shadow.
Finally, there’s the sound quality to be considered. Find a quiet place to film your video. If you have to use a microphone, do so. The point is to be heard. Even the most simple cameras produce great sound in a quiet environment. If you have to you can always edit the noise out of the video using a sound editor, but you shouldn’t have to.
These are basic video quality elements. They don’t take a lot of effort to implement so be sure you do it. As we move into our next article, we discuss the “I” in VIEW FUEL which is one of the most important elements to creating a viral video.
