We have reviewd V in an earlier article and want to remind you that each letter in this acronym represents a key aspect to creating a video campaign on YouTube that will “fuel” your “viewership.” Today we are discussing the “I” in VIEW FUEL: Invoke Emotion.
We are empathetic beings. We can sense another’s emotion. This is key to your successful viewership. If you want your video to go viral, make sure that you are conveying excitement or any other emotion that will invoke a response from your viewer. That response might be to pass it on (go viral), or to buy your product or service. We ACT emotionally… in order to get you’re your viewership to act, they must feel an emotion.
Human nature demands that we connect to each other. Watching a video is the 21st century way for people to believe they are connecting, and it’s to your advantage to make the most of it. Viewing a video is almost like having a conversation, and when a video displays or evokes emotion the person watching it feels as though they’ve been engaged with the person making the video. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of this simple truth.
We use all of our senses when we relate to others. However, we can only see and hear the person we’re watching on YouTube. So, make sure you give visual cues that you’re happy (if that’s the emotion you want to invoke). Stand up straight. Lift your head and hold your chin up. Use an upbeat, clear voice.
Stand in a more slumped position and use a monotone voice level if you want to convey a more serious or sad tone. Slow down your speaking pace and look down a lot. Any emotion can be expressed on video, physically and audibly. What are you wanting to get across?
